We are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting a talk on Modern British art in collaboration with Oyez Arts at Altrincham Town Hall.
The talk will be delivered by art historian Emma Anderson, focusing on three artists of immigrant heritage who helped reshape British painting: David Bomberg, Josef Herman and Leon Kossoff.
Emma studied art history at the Courtauld Institute before a career working in UK art galleries and museums, including The Lowry, the People's History Museum and Macclesfield Museums.
Join us on the 19th November for an evening of art history amongst the beautiful period features of Altrincham Town Hall. All ticket proceeds will go to Oyez Arts, supporting the charity's work in promoting art and creativity locally.
Doors and licensed bar open at 5.45pm, Modern British talk starts at 6:15pm. We can’t wait to see you there.
Address: Altrincham Town Hall, 25 Market St, WA14 1PF.
Introducing Oyez Arts and Altrincham Town Hall
A landmark of Altrincham since 1901, the Town Hall was originally home to Altrincham Borough Council and has served as a wedding and civil partnership venue since 2006.
In March this year, Oyez Arts signed a 25-year lease on Altrincham Town Hall, becoming the 124-year-old historic building’s long-term custodian and guaranteeing its future as a community space for a generation to come.
The charity has revitalised Altrincham Town Hall as a new community space for creative learning, artistic expression and personal wellbeing. It runs an impressive programme of classes, talks and events, making creativity accessible to everyone.
As an organisation ourselves that champions art, we are thrilled about Oyez Arts' stewardship of the historic building, forging a new legacy of artistic expression for the local community.
