L.S. Lowry drawing showing the meeting point of industrial town and countryside – houses and street lamps are juxtaposed with rolling hills and shrubbery. Created during Lowry's reawakening interest in mining villages as Manchester's cotton mills declined. Presumably, a preparatory sketch for his spectacular 1960 oil painting of the same title.
