A rare Lowry seascape in oil on board, showing shoreline figures watching sailing boats and rowing craft on a pale, richly textured sea. The impasto sky and water contrast with dark silhouetted figures, lifted by touches of ochre, red and blue. A fine example of Lowry's coastal subjects, distinct from his industrial townscapes.Provenance
