Adam Ralston is a plein air oil painter, which means he paints from direct observation on location. His hometown of Blackpool and the City of Manchester are prominent subjects throughout his art. Each painting is an exploration of the value of tone and colour, whilst remaining conscious of the formal qualities and composition. He prefers to complete a painting 'alla prima' (in one go) if possible, although multiple painting sessions are sometimes needed. He was recently elected a member of the Manchester Academy Of Fine Arts, and has exhibited regularly over the past year at the Mall Galleries in London.
