A 1928 drawing of St. John's Church, demolished in 1931. Lowry captured this structural “ghost" before its loss, returning to paint it again in 1938 as an almost blacked-out vision. The drawing is a testament to Lowry's impulse to, and success in, recording Manchester's changing landscape.
