Salford Museum & Art Gallery Awards Ceremony

Contemporary Six's Alex Reuben chooses winning artwork for the Open

Contemporary Six's Alex Reuben was invited to choose a winner of The Open arts competition at Salford Museum & Art Gallery. In a bustling room on a sweltering summer's day, Alex had to make a difficult decision for the winning artwork — in a very close-run contest of paintings, prints, and drawings, from artists born, living in, or working in Manchester.

The gallery is committed to this fair city of Manchester and its vibrant art scene, so Alex was delighted to hand the award to a meticulous landscape painter who captured the likeness, the atmosphere, and the warmth of the depicted city. Congratulations, John McGloughlin.

Contemporary Six was delighted to be considered as a representative of the art scene of Manchester, and is, most of all, excited to see what the future holds for all the competitors of the Open.
