Adam Ralston was born in Lytham St. Annes in 1970. He's a plein air oil painter, which means he paints from direct observation on location. His hometown of Blackpool is a prominent subject throughout his art. Each painting is an exploration of the value of tone and colour, whilst remaining conscious of the formal qualities and composition. He prefers to complete a painting 'alla prima' (in one go) if possible, although multiple painting sessions are sometimes needed.
