ADAM RALSTON MAFA

BACK HOME

Adam Ralston was born in Lytham St.Annes in 1970. He's a plein air oil painter, which means he paints from direct observation on location. His hometown of Blackpool is a prominent subject throughout his art. Each painting is an exploration of the value of tone and colour, whilst remaining conscious of the formal qualities and composition. He prefers to complete a painting 'alla prima' (in one go) if possible, although multiple painting sessions are sometimes needed.

Adam achieved an Art Foundation Diploma from Blackpool College of Art in 1990, and went on to achieve a BA (Hons) Degree in Fine Art at Canterbury College of Art, 1993.

He was recently elected a member of the Manchester Academy Of Fine Arts, and has exhibited regularly over the past year at the Mall Galleries in London.
